Otsuka Chemical Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Osaka-shi; President and Representative Director: Hiroyoshi Tosa; hereinafter “Otsuka Chemical”) and OOYOO Ltd. (Head Office: Kyoto-shi; President and Representative Director: Shogo Otani; hereinafter “OOYOO”) have begun a collaborative demonstration experiment on CO₂ capture from gas boilers at the Tokushima Plant.
● Overview of Demonstration Experiment
This demonstration experiment will take gas boiler gas from Otsuka Chemical’s Tokushima Plant and capture CO2 using OOYOO’s high-performance membrane technology module. The captured CO₂ will replace part of the existing CO₂ used within the factory, aiming to construct a CO₂ circular utilization model within Otsuka Chemical plants.
● Purpose of Demonstration
- Assessment of CO₂ capturing technologies: Verify membrane performance under flue gas conditions and determine optimal conditions for efficient CO₂ capture
- Evaluation of operation stability: Assess membrane performance, equipment efficiency, and durability under long-term operation
- Assessment of CO₂ circular utilization: Examine circular carbon management by reusing captured CO₂ within factory operations
● Future Outlook
Through this demonstration experiment, we will advance the study of CO₂ reduction and circular utilization models.
Otsuka Chemical will continue to pursue environmentally conscious technologies and strive to build a sustainable society.
