What is potassium titanate fiber TISMO?

TISMO was developed in 1979. Potassium titanate fiber is expressed by the chemical formulas K2Ti8O17 and K2Ti6O13. It has an extremely fine shape with a fiber length of 10 to 20 µm and fiber diameter of 0.3 to 0.6 µm.

TISMO has high strength, stiffness, and aspect ratio characteristics. It is used in a wide range of applications and fields such as reinforcement materials for plastics, friction modifiers for automotive brakes, and precision filters.

TISMO has micro-sized reinforcement characteristics.

The average fiber length of TISMO-D and the diameter of spun fibers (glass fibers, carbon fibers, etc.) are roughly equal, their cross-sectional areas being about 1/500. Consequently, reinforcement performance at the micro-size level is a key feature of TISMO.
