New Living Radical Polymerization Method "TERP Method"
Our company has been focus on research and development with the group of Professor Yamako Shigeru of Kyoto University in regard to the polymerization method TERP, which uses organic tellurium chemical compound. In consequence, it becomes clear that this technology has not only a high novelty in scholarly but efficacy as synthesizing the polymer required in the actual industry.
As a reaction mechanism, it is the static reaction of reaction species called Dormant species and the active species. Both reaction systems of a) thermal dissociation and b) degenerative chain transfer are in progress.
Features of TERP Method
The features of our polymerization method summarized in below.
- Capable of wide application of monomer. Concretely, non-conjugate monomer and polar functional monomer are applicable.
- Same as the usual radical polymerization, it is polymerizable under gentle conditions.
- High-level control of molecular weight distribution in high-molecular weight domain is controllable that its weight hundreds of thousands.
- Invert ratio of monomer is very high and the polymerization proceeds almost quantitatively.
- Excellent in block characteristic of the block polymer.
