Features of POTICON

Microfine properties

Since the dispersion state of fibers in plastics is uniform at the micro unit level, high precision molding and thin-wall molding are possible. Also, since parts that were conventionally provided by cutting metals can easily be produced with plastics, miniaturization of molded pieces is possible.

Superior friction properties

By developing a sliding grade, sliding parts with superior friction properties can be achieved without lubrication.

Since the hardness of TISMO is lower than such reinforced fibers as glass and carbon fibers, there is no galling phenomenon that may occur due to wear of the contacting parts.

Superior recyclability

POTICON has three kinds of recyclability derived from such physical characteristics as the stiffness, strength and size of TISMO, and is reusable.

  • When pellets are provided by the kneading machine, the average fiber length retention reaches as high as about 90%.
  • If it used to fill in plastics, there is almost no damage in subsequent mechanical processes.
  • During incineration, it does not damage the furnace, unlike glass fibers.

Superior dimensional accuracy and stability

Since TISMO is an extremely fine fiber having relatively small fiber orientation in the inner portion of injection-molded pieces, POTICON is capable of superior dimensional accuracy and stability. Strength differences between the resin flow direction and the direction perpendicular thereto is rare.

Application in high-performance parts requiring good balance between dimensional accuracy and strength is possible.

Extreme surface smoothness

Since TISMO is an extremely fine fiber and pieces molded with POTICON, produced by blending with TISMO, have high mold transfer properties, mirror surface state smooth surfaces can be obtained.

By improving surface accuracy, POTICON is the optimum material for precision parts, sliding parts, plating parts, and exterior parts.

Easy molding processability

POTICON has high liquidity and can be molded easily.

Molding with a pinpoint gate of 100μm and super thin-walled molding are also possible.

Since the hardness of TISMO is low and wear on molding machines and molds is extremely small in comparison with ordinary reinforcing materials such as glass and carbon fibers, there is a significant advantage in terms of the maintenance costs of facilities.
