RUVA-93 Reactive Ultraviolet Stabilizer

RUVA addresses unfulfilled needs in the marketplace

RUVA-93 copolymerizes efficiently with a variety of monomers, such as methacrylic, styrenic, and acrylonitrile monomers, thus providing permanent placement of the benzotrizole in the polymer. The advantages associated with a UV stabilizer bonded to a polymer backbone over the typical “additive” stabilizers include the permanence of the stabilizer in the resin, improved compatibility even in the very high loadings, excellent environmental acceptability, expanded technology options and ability to design new UV polymer screens with unique properties.

Advantages

This ultraviolet absorber copolymerizes with mainly acrylic-based monomers or grafts with existing polymers. The resulting high-polymer ultraviolet absorber:

  1. Does not transpire even during high heat conditions
  2. Does not migrate from resin surface
  3. Exhibits superior chemical and environmental resistance
  4. Maintains long-term weather resistance even in thin films and fiber

Our ultraviolet absorber exhibits characteristics in such applications as paints, films, and fibers that were not met by existing ultraviolet absorbers.
